Leading South West Company’s £25,000 Donation Supports Armed Services Charity

Corporate social responsibility

A charity that offers vital support to serving and retired armed services personnel is to benefit from a donation of £25,000 from Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG).

Launched in 2014, Turn to Starboard is a registered charity offering support to Armed Forces personnel and the families of those affected by military operations. Using the therapeutic effects of the sea, the charity provides RYA sailing courses and opportunities for serving and retired servicemen and women to help them re-adjust after operational tours. The charity also offers support to help those meeting the unique demands placed on them by Service life. Focused on resettlement and reintegration, Turn to Starboard organises activities such as family sailing trips and competitive sailing regattas.

In donating, WMFTG will become the charity’s main corporate sponsor. The company is a world‑leading manufacturer of fluid path technologies whose headquarters are also in Falmouth.

“We are a business that is driven by our commitment to corporate social responsibility – and a key part of this is our active role within our local community."

WMFTG’s Sales Director for APAC and Africa Martin Johnston said, “We are a business that is driven by our commitment to corporate social responsibility – and a key part of this is our active role within our local community. The opportunity to help such an important cause is both rewarding and exciting. Turn to Starboard is an inspirational charity and it has already achieved a great deal in such a small period. Our partnership is based on shared values and passion we share for helping people.”

Turn to Starboard CEO and founder Shaun Pascoe added, "This partnership will raise much-needed support and awareness of our work. The vital funds we receive will help injured veterans from all over the UK. We’re excited about working with WMFTG and making a difference over the coming year and beyond."
